The ceremony was organised by the Ghana Chamber of Mines.<\/p>\n<p>The Mining Company of the year went to Golden Star Resources Limited which operates in Prestea and Bogoso in the Western region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#StopGalamseyNow<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kojo Agyeman&#8217;s reports were key to <strong>Citi FM<\/strong>&#8216;s anti-galamsey campaign, &#8216;Stop Galamsey Now&#8217; earlier this\u00a0year.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign and public support eventually prompted the Minister of Lands and National Resources, John Peter Amewu to crack down on the illegal miners.<\/p>\n<p>A six-month ban was imposed and was eventually extended by three more months to January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Citi FM reporter, Kojo Agyeman emerged first runner-up in the 2017 edition of the Ghana Mining Industry Awards for his report on the pollution of the Birim River as a result of galamsey activities.
