{"id":37698,"date":"2014-08-07T13:50:16","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T13:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=37698"},"modified":"2014-08-07T13:50:16","modified_gmt":"2014-08-07T13:50:16","slug":"chinese-govt-to-help-install-solar-lights-in-accra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/08\/chinese-govt-to-help-install-solar-lights-in-accra\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese govt to help install solar lights in Accra"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP) has signed an agreement with the Chinese government to complete the installation of 275 solar street lights in Accra.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The project, aimed at improving the street lighting system in the national capital, is being executed by the Huawei Technologies Company Limited with funding from the Chinese government.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, 260 solar street lights have been installed at various road intersections.<\/p>\n<p>Areas which have already benefited from the project include Awudome road, and bus stops at the National Theatre, 37 Military Hospital, Flagstaff House and the Ako Adjei Interchange.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strengthening bilateral relations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, said the project would go a long way to strengthen the bilateral relationship between China and Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>He said China had contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Jinapor commended the Chinese government for the gesture, and assured them of the commitment of the government of Ghana to further deepen the existing relationship between the two nations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Sun Baohong, said the street light project marked another gratifying achievement in the China-Ghana co-operation.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of its numerous investments in Ghana, she said, the government of China would continue to invest more to improve the infrastructure in the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Graphic Online<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP) has signed an agreement with the Chinese government to complete the installation of 275 solar street lights in Accra.
