{"id":376576,"date":"2017-11-23T05:59:04","date_gmt":"2017-11-23T05:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=376576"},"modified":"2017-11-23T08:08:26","modified_gmt":"2017-11-23T08:08:26","slug":"kasoa-50-other-crime-hotspots-to-emerge-by-2021-aning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/kasoa-50-other-crime-hotspots-to-emerge-by-2021-aning\/","title":{"rendered":"Kasoa, 50 other crime hotspots to emerge by 2021 &#8211; Aning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Security expert, Dr. Kwesi Aning, has sounded warning bells that Kasoa in the Central Region has become a crime hotspot which requires urgent security intervention.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, 50 other areas are likely to become havens of crime in the next four years if the country\u2019s security agencies do not take urgent steps to arrest the situation.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ryB7mrcHU3UTC4zSVHsqlCmzJ3v6d4W4&#8243;]Armed robbery and the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/19\/nine-land-guards-grabbed-at-gomoa-fetteh\/\"><strong>phenomenon of land guards<\/strong><\/a><\/span> terrorizing residents have worsened in various areas on the outskirts of Accra, with Kasoa in the Central recording more cases.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Aning said Ghana&#8217;s ballooning population and unplanned urban growth are a recipe for disaster in the area of security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 4 years time, there will be 50 Kasoas in this country. We don\u2019t want to think about the demographics. In 2063, we will be 70 million in this country. It will lead to massive urbanization, unplanned urban spaces, and it will have an impact on law enforcement. We ought to have at least\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/03\/more-police-officers-deployed-to-combat-robbers-in-kasoa\/\"><strong>60,000 police officers now<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, but we now have 33,000. We don\u2019t have enough,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKasoa is representative of the demographic plus urban challenge that this country is going to face.
