The Brong Ahafo Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has recorded\u00a080 deaths from 348 road crashes between January to June.<\/p>\n
Sixty of the victims were men and 20 were women.<\/p>\n
Police Chief Inspector Francis Addo, Brong Ahafo Regional Station Officer, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said 50 pedestrians were knocked down during the period.<\/p>\n
He said 63 of the road crashes were fatal, 78 serious, and 207 were minor.<\/p>\n
Chief Inspector Addo advised drivers, motorist and cyclists to drive carefully to reduce road crashes and save lives.<\/p>\n
He said most crashes could be avoided if drivers comply with road traffic regulations on speeding and wrong over-taking.<\/p>\n
Chief Inspector Addo said the Police are concerned about the increase in road crashes in the country and were, therefore, embarking on radio and television education programmes to sensitize drivers and the public to prevent road crashes.<\/p>\n
He appealed to car owners who have their vehicles and motor bikes parked at the premises of the MTTD to remove them to avoid congestion.<\/p>\n
