Nearly the whole of Tamale Metropolis is in total darkness following a total power outage on Monday, November 20.<\/p>\n
The outage, which occurred at 5:45pm, has kept residents of the Metropolis wondering when the problem would be fixed.<\/p>\n
The Communications Department of the Volta River Authority of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (VRA\/NEDco), in a brief statement copied citifmonline.com<\/b>, explained that there were challenges at the control room at the Choggu-Hilltop substation.<\/p>\n

The statement said management had taken steps to fix the problem, and apologized to residents of the Metropolis for the inconvenience caused.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But citifmonline.com<\/b> further gathered that, fire gutted a portion of the Choggu-Hilltop sub-station, hence the power outage.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Head of Communications of the VRA\/NEDco, Maxwell Kotoka, confirmed the burning of eleven panels in an interview with citifmonline.com<\/b>.<\/p>\n
According to him, the rapid response of the Ghana National Fire Service personnel prevented more damages.\u00a0 He assured the affected communities that power would be restored as soon as practicable.<\/p>\n
There are concerns criminals may take advantage of the darkness to commit crimes.<\/p>\n
