The upcoming event seeks to protest further delays in the implementation of the final phase of the road-map to peace in Dagbon by the three eminent chiefs\u2019 Mediation Committee handling the Dagbon chieftaincy impasse.<\/p>\n

According to DAMAZ Chairman, Alhaji Baako, the necessary security arrangements have been put in place to prevent any unpleasant situation.<\/p>\n
lhaji Baako Jagbo told Citi News<\/strong> that the youth of Dagbon were tired of the delays.<\/p>\n He admonished the Asantehene led Mediation Committee to quicken its pace in bringing to finality the age-long chieftaincy dispute between the Abudu and Andani Royals in Dagbon.<\/p>\n He stressed the need for the Mediation Committee to ignore the machinations of \u201cChieftaincy contractors\u201d in Dagbon, and ensure that the funerals of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai1 IV, and that of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II are performed in the old Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.<\/p>\n He further asked the law enforcement agencies to deal with miscreants who might take advantage of the peace march to cause trouble in Yendi.<\/p>\n Background<\/strong><\/p>\n The DAMAZ earlier expressed misgivings about the mediation efforts by the three eminent chiefs, following an inconclusive recent meeting between representatives of the Abudu and Andani royals at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi.<\/p>\n Whereas the Abudus insisted that the final funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV should be performed in the old Gbewaa palace at Yendi, the Andanis remained defiant in opposition to the proposal.<\/p>\n A heated argument there necessitated the Asantehene led three eminent Kings Mediation Committee\u2019s adjournment of the meeting by two weeks.<\/p>\n The DAMAZ leadership after the said meeting, issued a statement and tasked the three eminent chiefs to be firm and bring to finality implementation of the final phase of the road-map to peace in Dagbon.<\/p>\n History<\/strong><\/p>\n The DAMAZ was officially launched on September 10, 2017, with the overall objective of uniting Dagombas towards building a prospective and industrious Dagbon Kingdom.<\/p>\n As the brainchild of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, the DAMAZ formed\u00a0part of government\u2019s agenda to permanently resolve the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute between the Abudu and Andani Royals.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Some concerned youth from both sides of the chieftaincy divide in Dagbon, are set to embark on a peace march dubbed, \u201cDiwumti\u201d in Yendi on Monday, November 20, 2017.
