{"id":372849,"date":"2017-11-12T12:00:24","date_gmt":"2017-11-12T12:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=372849"},"modified":"2017-11-11T20:56:52","modified_gmt":"2017-11-11T20:56:52","slug":"volta-region-customs-officer-supports-free-shs-with-textbooks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/volta-region-customs-officer-supports-free-shs-with-textbooks\/","title":{"rendered":"V\/Region: Customs officer supports Free SHS with textbooks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Government\u2019s Free Senior High School Program implementation in the Volta Region continues to enjoy the support of individuals and organizations as a Customs Officer with the Ghana Revenue Authority, has supplied sets of reading materials for schools in South Dayi and Afadjato South Districts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The gesture by Mr. Ellis Humphrey Agbeehia, according to him, forms part of his contribution to a successful implementation of the free SHS Program which he described as laudable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The donation, which is worth GHC 7,800.00, benefited four senior high schools and 27 public junior high schools in the South Dayi District, and four selected Junior High Schools in Afadjato South.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-372850\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HUMPHREY-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"580\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mr. Agbeehia\u2019s said the books, which include mathematics, science and literature textbooks would improve literacy in the schools and inculcate reading habits among students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His donation follows a similar one done by the Volta Regional Representative to the Council of State, Francis Nyonyo Agboada, and the Member of Parliament for North Tongu District, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-372852\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HUMPHREY-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"428\" height=\"570\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HUMPHREY-3.jpg 3120w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HUMPHREY-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HUMPHREY-3-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 428px) 100vw, 428px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mr. Agboada donated 13,000 pieces of Exercise and Note Books to be presented to all 25 Municipal and District Assemblies in the region, whilst Mr Ablakwa donated 200 mono desks and other teaching materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Free Senior High School is a flagship programme of the NPP government, which seeks to increase access to SHS, by lessening the burden on parents and guardians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Under the policy, government would foot all bills including feeding fees, school fees and all other charges.
