{"id":369862,"date":"2017-11-10T06:40:16","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T06:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=369862"},"modified":"2017-11-10T07:19:34","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T07:19:34","slug":"150-women-in-builsa-south-equipped-with-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/150-women-in-builsa-south-equipped-with-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"150 women in Builsa South equipped with skills \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>About One Hundred and Fifty women in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region, have received a one-week skills empowerment training under the Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP), to enable them undertake quality processing of local products for both local consumption and export.<\/p>\n<p>The training, which is aimed at improving the livelihood of women and help reduce poverty in the area, took the beneficiary women through modern technology in soap making, rice production, Malt brewing, Shea butter and Groundnut paste production among others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at Fumbisi, GSOP Data management officer, Yaw Agyapong, entreated beneficiaries to actively participate during the training to compete in both the local and on the international market.<\/p>\n<p>He assured beneficiaries of financial support to start-up their own businesses after the end of the training.<\/p>\n<p>The amount will however be paid back within a specific period\u00a0 to enable others access same.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Agyapong added that, the initiative was a calculated attempt towards ending poverty and unemployment especially amongst women.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the Builsa South District Chief Executive, Daniel Gariba, said government was committed to adopting the most efficient sustainable interventions to address poverty in the area.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-369869 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG-20171026-WA00671.jpg\" alt=\"img-20171026-wa00671\" width=\"607\" height=\"478\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said his outfit is working hard to attract more Non- governmental organizations to the area to compliment government&#8217;s efforts in addressing poverty and unemployment issues.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Gariba added that, the NPP government under President Nana Addo, is already on course with the implementation of programmes and policies to alleviate poverty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-369867 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/women-trained-in-builsa-south-3.jpg\" alt=\"women-trained-in-builsa-south-3\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Citing the implementation of Free Senior High Education, planting for food and jobs, restoration of teacher and nurses trainee\u2019s allowances among other interventions, Mr. Gariba urged the citizenry to support the government to deliver.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Frederick Awuni\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About One Hundred and Fifty women in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region, have received a one-week skills empowerment training under the Ghana Social Opportunities Project (GSOP), to enable them undertake quality processing of local products for both local consumption and export.
