{"id":369007,"date":"2017-11-07T06:05:24","date_gmt":"2017-11-07T06:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=369007"},"modified":"2017-11-07T06:05:24","modified_gmt":"2017-11-07T06:05:24","slug":"bawumia-behaving-like-a-heartless-serial-caller-ofosu-kwakye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/bawumia-behaving-like-a-heartless-serial-caller-ofosu-kwakye\/","title":{"rendered":"Bawumia behaving like a &#8216;hapless&#8217; serial caller \u2013 Ofosu Kwakye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Deputy Minister for Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has likened Vice President Bawumia\u2019s recent utterances on Ghana\u2019s Digital Property Addressing System to political serial callers who call into FM stations to rant over issues.<\/p>\n<p>He made the comment on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;dJVvXGAJNQQXRJyU9MVcKsGK1cQdkpGh&#8221;]According to Mr. Ofosu Kwakye, Dr. Bawumia must desist from purporting to be educating former President Mahama on national issues since John Mahama is far knowledgeable in such issues.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took a swipe at John Mahama over the latter\u2019s criticism of the government\u2019s recently launched <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/05\/2-5m-digital-addressing-system-419-mahama\/\"><strong>Digital Property Addressing System<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, Ghana Post GPS.<\/p>\n<p>John Mahama, while addressing teeming supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after its Unity Walk in the Central Region on Sunday, said \u201cHow can you launch a Google GPS system that is freely available on our mobile phone and say it is a national addressing system. It is such a pity. Why will you embarrass the president so much? You go and take a whole president to bring him to come and launch a system that is 419,\u201d but<span style=\"color: #666699;\">\u00a0<a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/06\/bawumia-educates-critics-of-digital-addressing-system\/\"><strong>Bawumia<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>believes Mahama\u2019s comment was from an<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/06\/clueless-mahamas-attack-on-address-system-laughable-bawumia\/\"><strong>\u00a0ill-informed position<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_353819\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-353819\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-353819\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Bawumia-1.jpg\" alt=\"Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-353819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He said, \u201cI read that the former President described Ghana\u2019s National Digital Addressing system as a 419 scam. When I read his reasoning for such a description, it became very evident to me that he has no clue about what he was talking about and was just engaged in parroting propaganda. I actually had a good laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Felix Ofosu Kwakye said the Vice President\u2019s response to his former boss was merely propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListening to the Vice President, with the greatest respect to him, one could mistake him for a hapless NPP serial caller repeating the propaganda lines that they became so enamored of in the run-up the 2016 elections. He came across as a man whose hyperbolic description of the Ghana Post App has been punctured by sound technical analysis by people who understand the sector and applications like that. The Vice President is by no means an IT expert, so what he read, was merely what he has been told by the people who developed the app,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral independent experts have assessed this app and pointed out deep flaws which do not justify the amount of money that has been invested into it\u2026.What government is required to do, is to take on board the criticisms of the experts who have spoken and to look into talks about inflation of the cost of the app. It does not lie in the mouth of the Vice President to come and purport to educate John Mahama on anything,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a Deputy Minister for Communication, George Andah, says the former President&#8217;s comment indicated that he lacked understanding of the operations of digital property addressing systems.<\/p>\n<p>He said John Mahama has embarrassed himself with the comment and his handlers must be blamed for the wrong information he put out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ghana won\u2019t pay Google for address system after 2017 \u2013 Andah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Government does not intend to make any more license payments to Google, beyond 2017, for embedding the company\u2019s online map into the country\u2019s newly designed National Digital Property Addressing System, Ghana Post GPS.<\/p>\n<p>The management of Ghana Post had announced that Ghana is to pay Google an amount of $400,000\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/27\/digital-address-system-ghana-to-pay-google-400000-yearly\/\">as a\u00a0licensing fee<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0annually, for making use of the tech giant\u2019s Google Maps platform.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking on\u00a0<strong>The Big Issue\u00a0<\/strong>on\u00a0<strong>Citi FM<\/strong>, the Deputy Communications Minister, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/29\/ghana-wont-pay-google-for-address-system-after-2017-andah\/\">George Andah<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, noted that \u201cthere are other solutions that are going to come down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former Deputy Minister for Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has likened Vice President Bawumia\u2019s recent utterances on Ghana\u2019s Digital Property Addressing System to political serial callers who call into FM stations to rant over issues.
