{"id":368013,"date":"2017-11-03T14:30:28","date_gmt":"2017-11-03T14:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=368013"},"modified":"2017-11-03T14:30:28","modified_gmt":"2017-11-03T14:30:28","slug":"govt-moves-to-address-sleeping-under-trees-at-vitting-shs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/11\/govt-moves-to-address-sleeping-under-trees-at-vitting-shs\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t moves to address &#8216;sleeping under trees&#8217; at Vitting SHS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government is taking steps to fix the infrastructure deficit at Vitting Senior High School in Tamale that has compelled some students to sleep under trees.<\/p>\n<p>The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, today [Friday] visited the school on a fact-finding mission.<\/p>\n<p>This followed a <strong>Citi News<\/strong> report of the dire situation of some students sleeping in the open due to inadequate dormitories.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-368014\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Govt-takes-steps-to-address-beds-under-trees-at-Vitting-SHS-4-Salifu-Saeed.jpg\" alt=\"govt-takes-steps-to-address-beds-under-trees-at-vitting-shs-4-salifu-saeed\" width=\"600\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to Salifu Saeed, the\u00a0government was alarmed by the reportage, hence his visit.<\/p>\n<p>He assured the authorities that government will allocate enough GETfund projects to the school.<\/p>\n<p>He promised the school a fence wall to prevent encroachment and to guarantee the students&#8217; maximum security.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated government&#8217;s commitment to solving the myriad of challenges associated with the implementation of the free Senior High School programme.<\/p>\n<p>He urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the free SHS programme and educate their children.<\/p>\n<p>Salifu Saeed further promised to get Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to solve the water crisis in the school.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-368015\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Govt-takes-steps-to-address-beds-under-trees-at-Vitting-SHS-1-Salifu-Saeed.jpg\" alt=\"govt-takes-steps-to-address-beds-under-trees-at-vitting-shs-1-salifu-saeed\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics, Abdul Mumin Hudu, commended the Regional Minister for the visit.<\/p>\n<p>He outlined inadequate dormitories and classroom blocks, water crisis and the lack of a fence wall as some of the major challenges hampering academic work.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that the school has since late President John Evans Atta Mills&#8217; administration, not witnessed any face-lift.<\/p>\n<p>Abdul Mumuni Hudu emphasized the need for government&#8217;s rapid response to the school&#8217;s situation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government is taking steps to fix the infrastructure deficit at Vitting Senior High School in Tamale that has compelled some students to sleep under trees.
