{"id":367079,"date":"2017-10-31T15:09:04","date_gmt":"2017-10-31T15:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=367079"},"modified":"2017-10-31T15:09:04","modified_gmt":"2017-10-31T15:09:04","slug":"tigo-wins-csr-award-for-supporting-education-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/tigo-wins-csr-award-for-supporting-education-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigo wins CSR Award for supporting education in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Telecom operator, Tigo Ghana, at the weekend won the \u2018CSR Award for Education and \u2018CSR Partnership Initiative of the Year at the 7th Ghana CSR Excellence Awards held in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the second straight year that the company has won the education category for its unique approach to improving education in communities.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Tigo has invested heavily into its educational initiatives such as Shelter for Education, which provides infrastructure and technology support to basic schools in deprived communities in the country.<\/p>\n<p>It is also improving the reading culture among children in basic schools through its partnership with \u2018Raising Readers Ghana\u2019. For the \u2018CSR Partnership Initiative of the Year, the company, known for using mobile technology to transforms lives, was highly praised for its Automated Birth Registration system initiative, a partnership with UNICEF and the Births and Deaths Registry.<\/p>\n<p>The system has revolutionized the birth registration process in the over 300 communities where it is currently being piloted \u2013 providing ease and convenience for both parents and registration officials.
