{"id":367029,"date":"2017-10-31T15:44:01","date_gmt":"2017-10-31T15:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=367029"},"modified":"2017-10-31T15:44:01","modified_gmt":"2017-10-31T15:44:01","slug":"hes-a-disgrace-sack-him-quick-ghanaians-bash-ayisi-boateng","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/hes-a-disgrace-sack-him-quick-ghanaians-bash-ayisi-boateng\/","title":{"rendered":"He&#8217;s a disgrace, sack him quick &#8211; Ghanaians bash Ayisi Boateng"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana\u2019s High Commissioner to South Africa,\u00a0George Ayisi Boateng&#8217;s pledge to prioritize the welfare of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members before considering other Ghanaians, has been met with outrage\u00a0and calls for his\u00a0dismissal\u00a0from some sections of the public.<\/p>\n<p>He made these remarks at a ceremony over the weekend to welcome fresh members of the tertiary wing of the NPP,\u00a0Tertiary Students\u2019 Confederacy Network (TESCON) at the Kumasi Technical University.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; this government is doing its best to create job opportunities and me for instance, I told my people over there [that], it is because of NPP that I\u2019m here, so the NPP man is my priority. I told them when NDC was in power it was Kwesi Ahwoi who was there, now we are in power, so Ayisi-Boateng is here with you. My topmost priority is the problems of an NPP person before any other Ghanaian, take it or leave it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed I\u2019m not boasting, but I\u2019ve started meeting the NPP groups. Every weekend I meet some group members and I tell you if I had my way, every job opportunity that will come will go to a TESCON member before any other person. And I know my colleague appointees also have the same feeling except that because of IMF we cannot do anything now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some <strong>Citi FM<\/strong> listeners vented their spleen on the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, and described the comments as distasteful.<\/p>\n<p>Some also took offense to the undertone of partisanship and cronyism in the High Commissioner&#8217;s comments.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only problem I have is giving the opportunity to someone who does not qualify to work in the name of parties. If that is the way to go, then I am disappointed in what honorable Ayisi Boateng said,&#8221; one listener stated.<\/p>\n<p>But a lot more scorn of Mr. Ayisi Boateng&#8217;s comments was noted on social media.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-366992\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-Sack4.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sack4\" width=\"573\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-366993\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi\" width=\"637\" height=\"230\" \/>\u00a0Some also called him a disgrace and described him as incompetent to head the South African Mission.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-366994\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi2.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi2\" width=\"636\" height=\"191\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-366995\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-sack-5.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sack-5\" width=\"633\" height=\"198\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-366996\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-sacks6.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sacks6\" width=\"631\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-366997\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-sack-7.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sack-7\" width=\"635\" height=\"203\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-366998\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-sack.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sack\" width=\"564\" height=\"219\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Comparisons were made to the former deputy Agriculture Minister, William Quaitoo, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/29\/deputy-agric-minister-resigns-over-ethnocentric-comments\/\">who resigned<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from his portfolio after making ethnocentric comments.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-366999 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-sack2-e1509461826277.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sack2\" width=\"499\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-367000\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Ayisi-sack3.jpg\" alt=\"ayisi-sack3\" width=\"505\" height=\"177\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>No remorse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The outrage notwithstanding, Mr. Ayisi Boateng has <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/31\/your-wife-and-kids-must-eat-first-i-did-no-wrong-ayisi-boateng\/\">defended his comments <\/a><\/strong><\/span>and said he found nothing wrong with his pledge to put NPP members before other Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When you have a large family but you first make you\u2019re your wife and children eat first before others\u2026What is wrong with that? I am not divisive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minority spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has already called on President Akufo-Addo to immediately <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/30\/sack-sa-high-commissioner-for-shameful-partisan-comment-ablakwa\/\">terminate his appointment <\/a><\/strong><\/span>as High Commissioner, since his comment is divisive and reprehensible.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr. Ayisi Boateng has said he is unperturbed.
