{"id":365810,"date":"2017-10-28T10:07:05","date_gmt":"2017-10-28T10:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=365810"},"modified":"2017-10-28T10:07:05","modified_gmt":"2017-10-28T10:07:05","slug":"attack-on-sissala-west-dce-nothing-serious-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/attack-on-sissala-west-dce-nothing-serious-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Attack on Sissala West DCE &#8216;nothing serious&#8217; &#8211; Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sulemana Alhassan, the Upper West Regional Minister, has downplayed the incident at the office of the Sissala West District Chief Executive that saw rowdy New Patriotic Party youth boldly lock up the office of the public officer.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Mr. Alhassan, who\u00a0did not emphatically condemn the action of the youth, described it as a &#8220;small hitch between some party youth and the District Chief Executive for Sisala West that led to the youth locking up the office.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;p86pc0jSHkvYANKb1Zka1Vq8jYj11wRR&#8221;]Defending his stance on the matter, the Minister said that &#8220;even though [the youth&#8217;s storming the office] was not legal, they didn\u2019t cause any damage to any property. They didn\u2019t cause any harm to anybody&#8221; he insisted.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, &#8220;the\u00a0only problem was that they locked the [DCE\u2019s] office illegally. This is something I can say was a mob action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Police have said that an\u00a0arrest on the spur of the moment could have escalated the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister recounted that, when he got to the scene, he had \u201cto ask the district police to intensify their investigations and see if some of them could be identified and if possible arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He, however, said talk of prosecuting the culprits was too early because no arrests had been made yet, despite a spokesperson of the group speaking on<strong> Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The agitating youth complained that\u00a0they\u00a0are being neglected in favour of people aligned to the DCE,\u00a0Mohammed Bako.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NPP youth storm police station in Karaga; set suspects free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0similar incident at Karaga in the Northern Region, the NPP Chairman for the Karaga Constituency and four others\u00a0have been<span style=\"color: #666699;\">\u00a0<strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/27\/karaga-npp-chair-4-others-arrested-over-police-station-raid\/\">arrested<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to assist police in their investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The irate youth in Karaga, believed to be sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),\u00a0early on, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/25\/npp-youth-storm-police-station-in-karaga-set-suspects-free\/\">invaded a police station<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, and freed some NPP members who were in police custody.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0source who was close to the scene, said the youth acted in that manner because the District Chief Executive of Karaga, Alhassan Yabdoo, allegedly caused the arrest of some NPP communicators.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sulemana Alhassan, the Upper West Regional Minister, has downplayed the incident at the office of the Sissala West District Chief Executive that saw rowdy New Patriotic Party youth boldly lock up the office of the public officer.
