{"id":36550,"date":"2014-08-02T14:53:18","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T14:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=36550"},"modified":"2014-08-02T15:10:25","modified_gmt":"2014-08-02T15:10:25","slug":"govt-to-seek-help-from-imf-to-stabilize-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/08\/govt-to-seek-help-from-imf-to-stabilize-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t to seek help from IMF to stabilize economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama met the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Economy on 1st\u00a0August, 2014 at the Flagstaff House to reflect further on the range of issues affecting the\u00a0Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee\u2019s discussions focused on measures aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability, promoting growth and improving the living conditions of the people.<\/p>\n<p>Arising out of the deliberations, the President reaffirmed the Government\u2019s continuing\u00a0commitment to a liberal Foreign Exchange regime that provides, among others, incentives\u00a0for Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, as well as Foreign Investors to invest in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The President further decided that as a matter of urgency, measures must be taken to stabilize the\u00a0Cedi in order to bring about greater predictability to the business environment.<\/p>\n<p>With respect to the energy situation in the country the President directed that urgent\u00a0measures be taken to expedite the coming on stream of domestic gas supplies to provide\u00a0cheaper fuel for power generation as well as minimize the foreign exchange burden of\u00a0crude oil imports.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, the President directed that immediate initiatives be taken to open discussions with\u00a0the International Monetary Fund and other Development Partners in support of our\u00a0<span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"cfe96702-3cd3-4d09-8942-9944b0647e42\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"8efb8694-e254-4416-b7e0-22d1c5f7c85e\">programme<\/span><\/span> for stabilization and growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Signed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Edward K. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"3f3ae65f-e83f-47cc-b8c1-0d3ae2ab876a\"><span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"cbb668fc-613d-4088-8e20-1423de6896cb\">Omane<\/span><\/span> Boamah (Dr)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Accra- August 2nd, 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: Ministry of Communications<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama met the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Economy on 1st\u00a0August, 2014 at the Flagstaff House to reflect further on the range of issues affecting the\u00a0Ghanaian economy.
