{"id":36515,"date":"2014-08-02T14:12:27","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T14:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=36515"},"modified":"2014-08-02T15:10:58","modified_gmt":"2014-08-02T15:10:58","slug":"betty-moulds-lawyer-dismisses-calls-for-her-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/08\/betty-moulds-lawyer-dismisses-calls-for-her-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"Betty Mould&#8217;s lawyer dismisses calls for her arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nana Ato Dadzie, lawyer for the former Attorney General, Betty <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"b8e9fb71-74ec-4f2d-9c55-46c743d342f7\">Mould<\/span> Iddrissu, has dismissed calls for her prosecution for <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"01aaf703-4d03-4053-ad4d-e9d0976296cc\">role<\/span> in the payment of fifty-one million <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"98792e7b-bac0-42c2-9b07-113527441d07\">cedis<\/span> to businessman Alfred Woyome.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, unanimously ordered Alfred Agbesi Woyome, to refund Gh\u023b 51.2 million, paid to him by the state as judgment debt.<\/p>\n<p>Some groups and individuals, including pressure group the Alliance for Accountable Government (AFAG), have called for the prosecution of the former attorney general and her deputy at the time, Ebo Barton Oduro.<\/p>\n<p>They believe the two should face punishment for their roles in the payment of the money to Mr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"b87c6a46-d34b-405a-af22-9b8c2df6d6c6\">Woyome<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"d1df4452-d532-4ec2-ac45-1fac8b731e15\">Dadzie<\/span>, told <b>Citi News<\/b> the Supreme Court ruling ordering Mr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"f03c5d0a-a1d0-445d-bf4d-fb455c0b126d\">Woyome<\/span>\u00a0to refund the money it says was wrongfully paid him, does not implicate his client in any way.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that, for any charge to be brought against his client, a proper investigation must be conducted \u201cand not because some people jump into the air and say arrest her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"9b2d40ea-cd4b-4c20-84f2-ef48dd113f7e\">Dadzie<\/span>, \u201ctwo years ago, after a huge <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"70acb118-4ad2-4b40-8c0a-82cc460797b3\">clamour<\/span> for her arrest,&#8230; <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"8a125d6a-0129-4015-b033-11704c1b83c0\">we<\/span> explained our position\u201d on the matter \u201c\u201d after being questioned by the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe faced them [the police].<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey asked questions, we explained and produced documents,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the calls for her arrest were nothing new, but insisted that they were not democratic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Edwin Kwakofi\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nana Ato Dadzie, lawyer for the former Attorney General, Betty Mould Iddrissu, has dismissed calls for her prosecution for role in the payment of fifty-one million cedis to businessman Alfred Woyome.
