<\/p>\nMore support is building up for the suspended General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),\u00a0Kwabena Agyepong, as some party activists have joined the appeal for\u00a0his immediate reinstatement.<\/p>\n
Beyond the appeal for his reinstatement, the group expressed concerns that there was a veiled attempt to expel Kwabena Agyapong from the party<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”28AFeSYLaJhpWipuPLhGgukViontr2ek”]Addressing the press, convener of the group, Jihan Efua Nuhu, said the NPP should be forthright and abide by the party\u2019s constitution if there were any attempts to expel Mr. Agyapong.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody is wondering\u00a0if\u00a0indeed, it is a removal rather than a suspension,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n
Between the lines of the statement announcing the suspension of Mr. Agyapong, the group contended that, there \u201cwas a carefully orchestrated ground machinery that propagated spurious\u00a0allegations and\u00a0very slanderous falsehood without providing a shred of evidence\u2026 all calculated to tarnish the image of our elected\u00a0General Secretary and facilitate casting aside the\u00a0popular\u00a0choice of the delegates.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NPP suspended its 2nd Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, alongside Mr. Agyapong in 2015, after they were accused of publicly rebelling\u00a0against the\u00a0party\u2019s decision to indefinitely suspend its National Chairman, Paul Afoko.<\/p>\n
Mr. Afoko and Mr.\u00a0Crabbe,\u00a0subsequently filed a suit over their suspension, but both suits were thrown out by the court.<\/p>\n
Unlike the two, Mr.\u00a0Agyapong\u00a0did not seek legal action, which some have cited as proof of his loyalty to the party and an argument in favour of his reinstatement.<\/p>\n
Some constituency and polling station executives of the NPP in the Brong Ahafo Region, have already petitioned the party\u2019s hierarchy for the reinstatement of\u00a0Mr. Agyapong.<\/p>\n
The petitioners\u00a0argued that, his conduct towards the party, even after his indefinite suspension in 2015, was evidence of his unwavering loyalty.<\/p>\n

The group reminded the NPP of its democratic credentials, and urged that it abides by the party’s constitution.<\/p>\n
“If there is an intention to\u00a0remove him, as it seems to us now, then the processes stipulated in the appropriate article of the party’s\u00a0constitution,\u00a0Article\u00a010, should have been respected\u2026 Only an emergency delegates congress can attempt to remove an elected officer,\u201d Mrs. Nuhu said.<\/p>\n
The group concluded with an appeal to the National Council of the\u00a0NPP\u00a0\u201cto kindly lift the suspension and restore the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, to his elected position. We are hopeful that in the spirit of fairness, our petition will meet a\u00a0favourable response.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reasons for Kwabena Agyepong suspension<\/strong><\/p>\n A) Violation of Article 3(D) of the NPP constitution which enjoins members to publicly uphold the decisions of the party, through various acts including;<\/p>\n i. His disregard for NEC decision on 23rd\u00a0October, 2015, suspending Mr. Paul Afoko.<\/p>\n ii.\u00a0Various Public statements he made that cast the Party in bad light.<\/p>\n B)\u00a0He engaged in unilateral actions and activities without consultation of, or authorization by the NEC, such as;<\/p>\n i.\u00a0Writing to the Electoral Commission designating only himself and suspended Chairman Afoko as the only authorized signatories.<\/p>\n ii.\u00a0Granting waivers to parliamentary aspirants<\/p>\n iii.\u00a0Non-reference of legal matters to the proper legal Committee of the Party<\/p>\n iv.\u00a0Interference with Constituency primaries against National Appeal Committee decisions and also, Court decisions.<\/p>\n v.\u00a0Misrepresentation\/misleading of NEC on status of some constituency primaries<\/p>\n vi.\u00a0He, in conjunction with suspended Chairman Afoko and Sammy Crabbe, launched Party cards without authorizations from NEC.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By:\u00a0 Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" More support is building up for the suspended General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),\u00a0Kwabena Agyepong, as some party activists have joined the appeal for\u00a0his immediate reinstatement.
