{"id":363959,"date":"2017-10-22T08:00:10","date_gmt":"2017-10-22T08:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=363959"},"modified":"2017-10-22T08:00:10","modified_gmt":"2017-10-22T08:00:10","slug":"delayed-exeat-killed-our-mate-bolga-shs-students-allege","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/delayed-exeat-killed-our-mate-bolga-shs-students-allege\/","title":{"rendered":"Delayed exeat killed our mate -Bolga SHS students allege"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some students of the Bolgatanga Senior High School in the Upper East Region who went on rampage over the death of their mate, have blamed it on the delay on the part of their house masters to grant the request of the deceased,\u00a0Elliasu Zakari, for an exeat.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, the senior house masters \u2013 Mr. Osman Iddrisu and Isaac Dzandza, \u00a0refused to sign the exeat on time to enable him go home, hence his death.<\/p>\n<p>Students of the school went on rampage on Friday over the\u00a0incident, and in the process vandalized properties belonging to the school.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-363871 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/bolga-shs-students-vandalize-2.jpg\" alt=\"bolga-shs-students-vandalize-2\" width=\"768\" height=\"472\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deceased, Elliasu Zakaria, went to sign an exeat to go home, and the senior house masters did not agree and even beat the student up, so he went home and\u00a0run out of blood and died,\u201d some of the students told Citi News.<\/p>\n<p>Although refusing to sign exeat forms is not unusual, some of the students told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that sometimes their request to go home to seek medical attention are turned down despite\u00a0insufficient\u00a0drugs at the school&#8217;s dispensary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the senior house masters do not always want to sign exeats for students. When you tell them you are sick and need an exeat to go home and treat yourself, they always refer you to the dispensary and there are not enough drugs at the dispensary,\u201d another student said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-363872 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/bolga-shs-students-vandalize-3.jpg\" alt=\"bolga-shs-students-vandalize-3\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Students to pay for damages<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The head teacher of the school, Mr. Afelibiek Ababu, has said the students will be surcharged for the damages caused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut for the Regional Minister Rockson Bukari\u2019s intervention, I would have closed the school.
