One of the leading contenders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential slot, Nana Akufo Addo says the Electoral Commission (EC) should halt its intention to conduct the limited voter registration exercise in August 2014.<\/p>\n
Time table for the EC\u2019s intended exercise was overturned by a unanimous Supreme Court ruling on a law suit filed by the Peoples National Convention (PNC) National Youth Organizer, Abu Ramadan and two others who challenged the EC\u2019s decision to register NHIS card holders and have attained voting age.<\/p>\n
Addressing all 31 constituency executives and teeming NPP supporters in Tamale as part of his campaign tour of Northern Region, Nana Addo challenged the EC to rather take steps to conduct independent forensic audit into the 2012 biometric register which was contested in Court.<\/p>\n
He suggested that the independent forensic audit should be done before the next district assembly election.<\/p>\n
Nana Akufo Addo who has been crowned with the title \u201cAboterewura\u201d called on all opposition parties in Ghana to rally behind the NPP to champion this course.<\/p>\n
He described the move as best means of getting a credible voter register for the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n
Nana Ado insisted the EC must compile a voter register which should be a true reflection of the data of all legitimate voters in Ghana.<\/p>\n
He remarked that the recent Supreme Court\u2019s unanimous ruling on Abu Ramadan and co\u2019s law suit should mark the beginning of comprehensive electoral reforms in Ghana.<\/p>\n
He praised the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood led panel of Supreme Court Judges for upholding Abu Ramadan and co\u2019s law suit.<\/p>\n
Nana Addo further thanked Abu Ramadan and his colleagues for deepening Ghana\u2019s democratic credentials with their victory in court.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, all 31 constituency executives in the Northern Region have totally declared their support for Nana Akufo Addo to lead the NPP in 2016.<\/p>\n
They openly read their declaration statement at a meeting with Nana Akufo Addo at the Raddach Memorial Lodge in Tamale.<\/p>\n
As part of their reasons, they said Nana Addo has undergone so many trials and proven to be a true party faithful over the years.<\/p>\n
Again, they stated that Nana Addo has been loyal and faithful to the party and all its functionaries even in hard times.<\/p>\n
They added that Nana Addo has never dreamt of leaving the party for any reason be it good or adverse.<\/p>\n
They argued that Nana Addo has a number to build on 5 million plus people country.<\/p>\n
They finally implied that Nana Addo has proven to all and sundry that Ghana matter more than any other individual as the Supreme Court verdict is a critical example.<\/p>\n
