{"id":360803,"date":"2017-10-10T18:11:48","date_gmt":"2017-10-10T18:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=360803"},"modified":"2017-10-10T18:11:48","modified_gmt":"2017-10-10T18:11:48","slug":"death-toll-in-suhum-accident-rises-to-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/death-toll-in-suhum-accident-rises-to-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Death toll in Suhum accident rises to 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five persons have been confirmed dead following a \u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/10\/3-dead-10-in-critical-condition-after-suhum-accident\/\">head-on collision <\/a><\/strong><\/span>between two vehicles at Kyekyere, a village close to Suhum in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>About 15 others who sustained varying degrees of injury are currently on admission at various hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>The accident, involved a vehicle traveling from Accra to Koforid, and a Kumasi-Accra bound vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the incident to\u00a0<strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0on Tuesday, lamented the accident was avoidable, and said the police &#8220;have begun investigations to ascertain all the facts, and efforts are being made to tow the accident vehicles to the station to assist investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cYesterday [Monday] at about\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_414964513\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8:00<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in the evening, a suspect driver, Osei Asante, was in charge of a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number ER 1058-16 from Kasoa to Koforidua, with passengers on board, and upon reaching a village called Kyekyewere near Suhum, he tried overtaking a leading vehicle and in the process his car veered onto the opposite lane and crashed into the passenger side of a Sprinter bus with registration number AW 1329-14, which also had passengers on board, and was heading to Accra from Kumasi\u201d ASP Ebenezer Tetteh\u00a0narrated.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He also advised passengers to call drivers to order when they over-speed and\u00a0flout driving regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">By: Neil Nii Amatey Kanarku\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five persons have been confirmed dead following a \u00a0head-on collision between two vehicles at Kyekyere, a village close to Suhum in the Eastern Region.
