Citi FM<\/strong>\u00a0on October 6 honoured the best graduating student in broadcast journalism at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).<\/p>\n Miss Ruth Bazing was adjudged the best broadcast journalist for the\u00a02017\u00a0graduating\u00a0class at GIJ’s 11th Congregation ceremony held on Friday.<\/p>\n Ruth was also named the overall best student acknowledging her exploits throughout her four years at the University.<\/p>\n She was presented with a brand new laptop and an audio recorder from\u00a0Citi FM<\/strong>. She also received a certificate of honour.<\/p>\n Speaking to citifmonline.com<\/strong>\u00a0after the ceremony, an elated Ruth\u00a0expressed her appreciation to Citi FM<\/strong> for the award.<\/p>\n “I think it\u2019s basically determination and sticking to the books. I believe academic excellence doesn’t come from cramming but allowing yourself to understand what is being taught and replicating everything in your own understanding. God plays a role too, without God none of these could have been achieved,” she added.<\/p>\n Ruth stated that she intended to pursue a masters\u00a0degree with the hope of taking up teaching \u2013 a passion of hers \u2013 in the future<\/p>\n She also advised young students\u00a0to “set their priorities straight if they want to follow in my footsteps.”<\/p>\n “I love having fun but I know when to. Know when to sit by the books and when to relax and have fun.”<\/p>\n A number of Ruth’s\u00a0mates praised her work ethic and commitment and backed her to achieve greater heights in the future.<\/p>\n “I know Ruth as someone who is hardworking and one who likes to study. I think the school considered her deserving of an award and I wish her well,” Sandra Hyde who was a classmate of Ruth’s for two years said.<\/p>\n This is the third consecutive year Citi FM<\/strong> had awarded graduating\u00a0students from the nation’s premier Communications institution.<\/p>\n Eva Kuupoulo and Ghansah Kwesi Ewur were honoured in 2015 while\u00a0Eugenia Kumi Akorfa picked up the award last year [2016].<\/p>\n Other award winners<\/strong><\/p>\n Degree<\/strong><\/p>\n Tryphena Lizzert\u00a0Yeboah picked up the award for Most Promising Journalism Student, Antwi Gifty was named the best student in Public Relations and Jonah Eledi was honoured as the most promising Public Relations student.<\/p>\n Agozie Brigitte was named the best student in Print Journalism while Kingsley Adom and Ann\u00a0Adjasah\u00a0were rewarded for their exploits in Journalism and PR respectively as part of the Top-Up programme.<\/p>\n Diploma<\/strong><\/p>\n Logo Veronica won the award for best student in Public Relations while Cynthia Gyan won awards for best journalism and best overall student.<\/p>\n
