{"id":359599,"date":"2017-10-07T06:00:02","date_gmt":"2017-10-07T06:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=359599"},"modified":"2017-10-07T06:00:02","modified_gmt":"2017-10-07T06:00:02","slug":"kma-to-lay-off-unfit-city-guards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/10\/kma-to-lay-off-unfit-city-guards\/","title":{"rendered":"KMA to lay-off \u2018unfit\u2019 City Guards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), \u00a0Osei Assibey Antwi, has said the Assembly will soon embark on a mass lay-off of its City Guards who are deemed \u2018unfit\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>According to Osei Assibey Antwi, 198 guards were screened when he assumed office to weed out the aged, the sick as well as indiscipline and non-performing personnel.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise, he revealed, exposed 46 of the guards without appointment letters, 21 of them engaging in mere labourer work, six (6) not fit for the position, and 15 cited to be indiscipline and were captured on tape for misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Bn3RAaQiC697CzAsxuGpGqkLR6KcbdHQ&#8221;]The 15 personnel who were cited for various offences including alleged extortion have since been sacked.<\/p>\n<p>The Kumasi Mayor made the remarks at a meeting with members of the Kumasi Traditional Council.<\/p>\n<p>He said the conducts of some city guards have\u00a0dented the image of the Assembly since most of them sent to direct traffic in parts of the city had engaged in alleged bribe taking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo Nananom [traditional rulers], very soon we shall take it up.
