The family of the 22-year-old Central University student, who was allegedly raped by a medical doctor,\u00a0\u00a0Nicholas Mensah Wood, is calling for justice for the alleged victim.<\/p>\n
The case is currently under investigation at the Tema Division of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).<\/p>\n
A family member of the alleged victim told Citi News<\/b> on condition of anonymity,that the alleged victim had told him that \u201cshe couldn\u2019t sit properly\u201d and had problems walking as well.<\/p>\n
He added that the victim needs serious medical attention which the family was unable to afford.<\/p>\n
He said he was disappointed that the suspect has been granted bail after his arrest on July 18.<\/p>\n
He also alleged that the doctor’s position and influence contributed to his release.<\/p>\n
Lawyer Oscar Asante, Dr. Wood\u2019s counsel, had argued that the charge preferred against his client was a fab\u00adrication, explaining that his client and the victim had been dating and that\u00a0the victim consented before the sex act.<\/p>\n
However, the victim’s relative is convinced of the suspect’s guilt and\u00a0 says that he expects him to be severely dealt with to serve as a deterrent to other people.<\/p>\n
