{"id":354741,"date":"2017-09-20T06:00:41","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T06:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=354741"},"modified":"2017-11-10T11:18:17","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T11:18:17","slug":"adonten-shs-turns-uncompleted-assembly-hall-into-classroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/adonten-shs-turns-uncompleted-assembly-hall-into-classroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Adonten SHS turns uncompleted assembly hall into classroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First-year students of Adonten Senior High School at Aburi in the Eastern Region, have been forced to use the school\u2019s uncompleted assembly hall as their <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/13\/pay-desk-fees-or-stand-in-class-la-presec-to-students\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>classroom<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is because the school does not have adequate furnished classrooms to accommodate them due to the pressure brought on by the implementation of the free senior high school policy.<\/p>\n<p>The Headmaster of the school, Stephen Aboagye, told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that the school is using its sick bay as part of dormitories for boarding students.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-354745\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Adonten-SHS-1.jpeg\" alt=\"adonten-shs-1\" width=\"1040\" height=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe major challenge is with student accommodation, dormitory, and classroom. We need additional classrooms to conveniently accommodate the first years. We are still managing the problem. We are doing our best to ease the problem, we cannot sit down and fold our arms. [For dormitories] some are at the sick bay and some at the major dormitories,\u201d Mr. Aboagye said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-354750\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Adonten11.jpg\" alt=\"adonten11\" width=\"1040\" height=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He said the school was among the many facing similar challenges in the region, and across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is an increase in population so there is the need to increase facilities in schools including Adonten,&#8221; Mr. Aboagye added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-354747\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Adonten-SHS-3.jpeg\" alt=\"adonten-shs-3\" width=\"1040\" height=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some Senior High Schools across the country are struggling to accommodate beneficiaries of the government\u2019s Free SHS programme.<\/p>\n<p>In some schools, there were inadequate desks, forcing two students to share desks meant for one person.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-354745\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Adonten-SHS-1.jpeg\" alt=\"adonten-shs-1\" width=\"1040\" height=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Cabinet has directed all ministers to tour their respective regions to assess ongoing admission processes in the schools.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First-year students of Adonten Senior High School at Aburi in the Eastern Region, have been forced to use the school\u2019s uncompleted assembly hall as their classroom.
