{"id":354552,"date":"2017-09-19T10:30:11","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T10:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=354552"},"modified":"2017-11-10T11:18:44","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T11:18:44","slug":"fire-service-to-give-special-attention-to-farms-under-planting-for-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/fire-service-to-give-special-attention-to-farms-under-planting-for-food\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire Service to give special attention to farms under &#8216;Planting for food&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana National Fire Service is ready to protect\u00a0all farms which will be earmarked for the\u00a0cultivation of crops under the government&#8217;s Planting for Food and Jobs programme.<\/p>\n<p>The Fire Service is wary of the threat of bush-fires, which are rampant during dry seasons, and its effect on the programme.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> after a training programme\u00a0for district directors of agriculture,\u00a0ACFO Joshua Nguah, the Eastern Regional Fire Service Commander, said with the training of farmers on anti-bush fire prevention, &#8220;50 percent of the work would be done.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will complement the efforts of people employed to work on the farms, farmers, fire volunteers, and the extension officers to do the other 50 percent of the work,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-354555\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/21b737c2-9ba1-4240-8e4a-a4a0e266b301-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"21b737c2-9ba1-4240-8e4a-a4a0e266b301\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ACFO Joshua Nguah assured the unflinching support of the Ghana National Fire Service to support government and said &#8220;we are ready to contribute our quota to support and make sure our farms are not destroyed by bush-fires&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Eastern Regional Director of Agriculture, Henry Crenstil Jnr, welcomed the support and said: &#8220;stakeholder engagement is of essence in this Planting for Food and Jobs initiative.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Fire Service is an important agency we cannot do without.
