One of the candidates contesting for the presidential ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Addai Nimoh is asking the leadership of the party to punish Members of Parliament who declared support for Nana Akufo- Addo on Tuesday.

The Deputy Minority leader Dominic Nitiwul revealed at the launch of Nana Addo’s campaign for the party’s presidential slot that he has the support of most of the Members of Parliament (MPs).

Mr. Nimoh said even though he is not perturbed by the show of support, the leadership of the party must discipline the MPs to protect the party’s unity.

“I will urge the party hierarchy to apply the rules and regulations accordingly, It is surprising for such a comment to come from Hon. Dominic Nitiwul. I wonder how he speaks for most of the members of the party,” he said.

Speaking to Citi News, the Mampong legislator advised Mr. Nitiwul “to be cautious in his public statements”

Meanwhile, an aide to Alan Kyeremanten says Alan’s camp is unmoved by the turnout and the show of support by MPs at Nana Addo’s campaign launch.

In an interview with Eyewitness News host- Richard Dela Sky, Mr. Philip Longdon said “we are confident there are many members of the party who support Alan, there are many constituency executives who support Alan and there are many members of Parliament who support Alan…we are not perturbed with what happened”

Mr. Longdon believes that Alan Kyerematen is the best candidate who can match President Mahama and “beat him fair and square” in the next election.

Nana Akufo Addo at the campaign launch said he was fit and strong to run as a presidential candidate on the ticket of the NPP.

Commenting on Nana Addo’s statement, Mr. Longdon said he[Nana Addo] placed too much emphasis on his health.

Mr. Longdon further described the decision by some members of Parliament to endorse Nana Addo as political.

“This is political electioneering we are doing and there are all kinds of things being done,”he said.

In that regard, he advised party members to abstain from politics and rather “demonstrate their ability to do the job”
