Citi FM’s Head of Business Desk, Vivian Kai Mensah, is currently in the United States of America to cover the U.S. \u2013 Presidential summit for African Leaders as well for Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Summit in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
She was nominated by the United States government because of her excellent track record as\u00a0 a business news anchor.<\/p>\n
Vivian attended the town hall meeting addressed by President Barack Obama Monday July 28 for the five hundred YALI participants. Among the five hundred are 15 Ghanaians drawn from the 10 regions of Ghana.<\/p>\n
She will also attend the US – Africa Leaders Summit scheduled for August 4-6.<\/p>\n
The heads of 50 African nations will gather in Washington at the invitation of President Obama for an unprecedented three-day summit with the theme \u201cInvesting in the Next Generation.\u201d<\/p>\n
The U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit will build on Obama\u2019s 2013 trip to Africa and highlight the U.S. commitment to Africa\u2019s people, security and democratic development.<\/p>\n
With a focus on deepening the U.S.-Africa partnership, the discussions will look for ways the United States and Africa can:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Expand cooperation on peace and regional security.
\n\u2022 Promote inclusive and sustainable development.
\n\u2022 Bolster trade and investment.
\n\u2022 Create an enabling environment for the next generation of Africans.<\/p>\n
According to Vivian, she is “excited about YALI and the US – Africa Leaders summit.”<\/p>\n
