{"id":351961,"date":"2017-09-09T12:45:39","date_gmt":"2017-09-09T12:45:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=351961"},"modified":"2017-11-10T12:00:20","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T12:00:20","slug":"well-clear-paperless-system-backlog-before-monday-gra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/well-clear-paperless-system-backlog-before-monday-gra\/","title":{"rendered":"We\u2019ll clear paperless system backlog before Monday \u2013 GRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the challenges that struck the paperless clearing system introduced at Ghana\u2019s ports, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA)\u00a0has assured importers that it will clear the huge backlog at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Government began the implementation of the paperless clearing system last week to reduce time spent on clearing goods from two weeks to four hours, and ensure order at the port, whilst blocking loopholes.<\/p>\n<p>But the aim to which the system was established experienced some hitches.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;YCw9qS3918c04kECs0L9N2zp8YmVCxpb&#8221;]Hundreds of angry Freight Forwarders last Thursday thronged the Longroom of the Tema Port to protest over the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/07\/confusion-at-tema-port-over-paperless-system-photos\/\"><strong>delays in the system<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, speaking on the <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> on Friday, the Commissioner for the Customs Division of the GRA, Isaac Crentsil conceded that his staff were overwhelmed with the documents that came through the compliance unit but assured that the hitches will be sorted out before Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happened was that what coming to the compliance office was more than the staff. So there was so much pile of work. So throughout the night\u2026we are seriously working on it to clear the backlog. Hopefully by Monday, things will normalize. The work has doubled.
