The brother of Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando wa Kabando accused of killing their mother had left Nairobi about a month ago, a relative disclosed on Monday.<\/p>\n
Mr Caesar Thiari Mwangi was on Monday charged with the murder of his mother Rose Wachera Mwangi.<\/p>\n
Ms Gladys Wanjiru Njuki, 50, a cousin of the deceased, said Mr Mwangi used to live in Nairobi and would only visit the home occasionally.<\/p>\n
But a month ago, the man moved back home in Ngaine village, Mukurwe-ini. \u201cHe used to visit home regularly and stay for days or weeks. But prior to Sunday\u2019s incident he had been here for about a month,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
On Monday, a sombre mood engulfed the village as relatives and workers trickled to the home.<\/p>\n
Mr Kabando had not arrived from Australia by the time our news crew left his mother\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
The MP\u2019s departed mother Ms Rose Wachera Mwangi, 70, and fondly known as Wa Kariuki in the village, was hacked to death on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Relatives and friends described her as humble, composed and generous.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was a woman of few words,\u201d said Mr Mike Wambui, a close family friend.<\/p>\n
CARING MOTHER<\/strong><\/p>\n He said the MP\u2019s mother rarely quarrelled with others and she interacted freely with her neighbours.<\/p>\n Similar sentiments were shared by Ms Njuki who described her as a humble, loving and caring mother who earned respect from the community for her good character.<\/p>\n Ms Njuki said Wa Kariuki was fair to all her six children (three women and three men) and treated them equally.<\/p>\n The MP\u2019s mother was a devoted member of Ngaini PCEA church where she used to worship, but on that fateful Sunday when she was killed, she had not attended the service.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was a polite, kind and lovely woman.
