{"id":35094,"date":"2014-07-28T15:32:57","date_gmt":"2014-07-28T15:32:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=35094"},"modified":"2014-07-28T15:32:57","modified_gmt":"2014-07-28T15:32:57","slug":"fifa-worldwide-sanctions-imposed-on-players-from-ghana-malta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/07\/fifa-worldwide-sanctions-imposed-on-players-from-ghana-malta\/","title":{"rendered":"FIFA: Worldwide sanctions imposed on players from Ghana, Malta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FIFA can today confirm the extension of sanctions imposed by\u00a0the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)and the\u00a0Italian Football Association (FIGC)\u00a0in relation to match manipulation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On 28 May 2014,\u00a0CAS\u00a0banned\u00a0Maltese player Kevin Sammut\u00a0from all football-related activities for a period of ten years\u00a0following proceedings conducted by UEFA disciplinary bodies in relation to the manipulation\u00a0of a qualifying match for the UEFA European Football Championship in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On 7 May 2014, the disciplinary committee of the FIGC banned Ghanaian player Mark Edusei from all football-related activities for three years and six months in relation to the manipulation of a match in the Italian\u00a0<em>Serie B<\/em>\u00a0in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the above cases, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to extend the sanctions to have worldwide effect in accordance with article 78 paragraph 1(c) and article 136\u00a0ff. of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. The decisions by the chairman have been duly notified to the respective confederations and member associations today.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FIFA continues to work closely with its member associations and the confederations to tackle match manipulation.
