The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) last Saturday inducted a 16-member Executive Council into office with a two-year mandate.<\/p>\n
The new council is headed by the Chief Executive of Innova DDB Ghana, Joel Edmund Nettey\u00a0as its president, Mansah Anowa, Vice-President and Martin Osei, Treasurer.<\/p>\n
Ten other individuals and companies elected as members into the Executive Council were also inducted into office by High Court Judge Justice Mrs. Naa Adoley Azu.<\/p>\n
They also took the Oath of Office and Secrecy at a dinner held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the ceremony, Joel Nettey promised to act with integrity, probity, accountability and transparency in pursuit of their business objectives.<\/p>\n
He also pledged their commitment to ensure the needs of all interest groups in the association, including media agencies, outdoor companies, production houses, creative agencies and individual members are met.<\/p>\n
Mr. Nettey also urged members to participate in the International Advertising Association Africa Congress being hosted by AAG in Accra this year. The conference dubbed \u201cAfrica Rising \u2013 The New Consumer Generation\u201d starts from November 12 to 14.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), James Asare-Adjei\u00a0underscored the need \u00a0for the government to adopt targeted tax policy to discourage the importation of raw materials to encourage local businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur manufacturing sector, which forms an important nexus in our industrial cluster, has often borne the brunt of the influx of imports\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Mr. Asare-Adjei urged AAG encourage the promotion of \u00a0made-in-Ghana goods because\u00a0\u201cour local brand deserves a prime airtime and space in our supermarkets and can compete with the foreign brands when the necessary attention is given\u201d.<\/p>\n
