{"id":350506,"date":"2017-09-04T11:04:14","date_gmt":"2017-09-04T11:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=350506"},"modified":"2017-11-10T12:32:40","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T12:32:40","slug":"ssnit-verifying-qualifications-of-over-2000-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/09\/ssnit-verifying-qualifications-of-over-2000-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"SSNIT verifying qualifications of over 2000 employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has started a process to verify the academic qualifications of 2,465 of its workers.<\/p>\n<p>This exercise forms part of moves by the trust to cleanse its system of employees with possible fake qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;5TTPv6UkwPUg2b4u24oRajQtY8oPjDh0&#8243;]SSNIT\u2019s Director-General, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang indicated that a directive in this regard was issued in August 2017, according to a report from the Daily Graphic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a policy of SSNIT for all certificates to be verified, but, somehow, Afaglo slipped through. We, therefore, need to make sure similar incidents do not occur in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang also noted that he expected his own credentials to be screened too and urged staff of the trust to cooperate and not feel targeted by the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI expect the Human Resource of the department of the trust to do it, I am also an employee of SSNIT and I expect my certificates to be vetted\u2026 We are not out there to victimise anyone; we are only seeking to cleanse the image of the trust to regain absolute confidence\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>News of these processes comes in the wake of Trust sacking its General Manager in charge of Management Information Systems (MIS), Caleb Afaglo, for securing a job with fake degrees.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_350010\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-350010\" style=\"width: 620px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-350010\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Caleb-Afaglo-1024x627.jpg\" alt=\"Caleb Afaglo (pictured) was sacked from SSNIT for securing a job at the Trust with fake degrees\" width=\"620\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-350010\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caleb Afaglo (pictured) was sacked from SSNIT for securing a job at the Trust with fake degrees<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Suspicions arose earlier in 2017 with the controversy over\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/contextly.com\/redirect\/?id=rPNBlkTbLl:348727:2934:13:::sidebar:59a6f5c2bc1d98-73002107\">SSNIT\u2019s\u00a0award<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0of a $34 million contract for the development and implementation of an Operational Business Suite (OBS), which later ballooned to $72 million.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2018\u00a0checks, EOCO\u2019s investigation was to ascertain the authenticity of Mr. Afaglo\u2019s doctorate degree, and his tenure in previous organizations, with the suspicion that he was unqualified for the role he occupied at the state pension organization.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that his questionable qualifications\u00a0contributed to failings within the Trust that led to the contract award with its attendant expenditure overruns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has started a process to verify the academic qualifications of 2,465 of its workers.
