{"id":349303,"date":"2017-08-30T12:54:23","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T12:54:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=349303"},"modified":"2017-11-10T12:36:12","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T12:36:12","slug":"ssnit-software-scandal-eoco-raids-office-of-perfect-business-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/ssnit-software-scandal-eoco-raids-office-of-perfect-business-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"SSNIT software scandal: EOCO raids office of Perfect Business Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), on Tuesday raided the premises of the IT firm which executed the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/24\/72-million-ssnit-software-not-fully-functional-director-general\/\"><strong>$72 million digitization project<\/strong><\/a><\/span> for the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).<\/p>\n<p>This latest development was confirmed by <strong>citifmonline.com<\/strong>\u2019s sources close to the issue.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;bYwvumw8pkxU38FX3iESWPuonHhnwqM6&#8243;]Perfect Business Systems (PBS), a local IT company, partnered Silverlake consortium, a Malaysian firm, to install and procure some software and hardware systems known as Operational Business Suite (OBS) aimed at digitizing the operations of SSNIT.<\/p>\n<p>The contract sum which was originally $34 million, later ballooned to $66 million, and now $72 million, due to maintenance and additional infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The Economic and Organized Crime Organization (EOCO), is currently investigating five officials of SSNIT for their alleged involvement in the acquisition of the DBS system.<\/p>\n<p>The Board Chairman of SSNIT, Kwame Addo Kufuor, in an earlier interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong> said about 15 people had already appeared before EOCO as witnesses in the matter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SSNIT interdicts MIS Manager over suspicious university degrees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SSNIT had interdicted its General Manager for MIS [Management of Information Systems], <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/28\/ssnit-interdicts-gm-of-mis-over-suspicious-university-degrees\/\">Dr. Caleb Afaglo<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>over the authenticity of his qualification for the position he holds in the organization.<\/p>\n<p>SSNIT gave Dr. Afaglo, who was appointed in October 2015 and confirmed in July 2016, a letter interdicting him on July 13, 2017, pending the outcome of an EOCO investigation into his academic and professional qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>EOCO conducted raids in his house, seized his passport and froze his bank account.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), on Tuesday raided the premises of the IT firm which executed the $72 million digitization project for the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
