{"id":348749,"date":"2017-08-28T18:48:06","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T18:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=348749"},"modified":"2017-11-10T14:45:15","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T14:45:15","slug":"police-invites-edward-mahama-over-unlawful-damage-accusation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/police-invites-edward-mahama-over-unlawful-damage-accusation\/","title":{"rendered":"Police invites Edward Mahama over unlawful damage accusation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kotobabi police is investigating a case of unlawful damage reported by the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) General Secretary, Atik Mohammed.<\/p>\n<p>A letter sighted by Citi News indicates that the police have invited the leader of the PNC and former party Flagbearer, Dr. Edward Mahama, for questioning on Wednesday, August 23.<\/p>\n<p>The police noted that he was accused of being the &#8220;brain behind the crime.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The PNC, in recent times, has been marred by some internal turmoil following the suspension of Mr. Mohammed.<\/p>\n<p>He was suspended indefinitely by the National Executive Committee of the party, following some alleged derogatory comments he made against, Dr. Edward Mahama.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_77338\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77338\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-77338\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSC_1411.JPG12526.jpg\" alt=\"Atik Mohammed\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSC_1411.JPG12526.jpg 448w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSC_1411.JPG12526-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-77338\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Atik Mohammed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr. Mohammed rubbished his suspension, saying he was still at post. He also described moves to get him out of office as illegal.<\/p>\n<p>The Party\u2019s National Chairman, Bernard Mornah also described the decision to suspend the General Secretary of the party, Atik Mohammed as unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>The comments followed Dr. Edward Mahama being named an\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/07\/10\/akufo-addo-makes-pncs-edward-mahama-ambassador-at-large\/\"><strong>Ambassador-at-Large<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0by the President.<\/p>\n<p>He had called for the resignation of Dr. Mahama from the party as he had shown \u2018bad judgment\u2019 in accepting the position.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Mohammed is quoted as saying the party could \u201cnot even be sure where [Dr. Mahama\u2019s] loyalty is anymore&#8230; he cannot continue, in my opinion, to be the leader of the party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senior members of the PNC expressed their opposition to the acceptance of the position of Ambassador-at-Large in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, by Dr. Mahama without consulting the party.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Kotobabi police is investigating a case of unlawful damage reported by the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) General Secretary, Atik Mohammed.
