{"id":348267,"date":"2017-08-27T06:00:48","date_gmt":"2017-08-27T06:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=348267"},"modified":"2017-11-10T14:46:38","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T14:46:38","slug":"dont-criticize-party-in-public-kufuor-to-npp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/dont-criticize-party-in-public-kufuor-to-npp\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t criticize party in public &#8211; Kufuor to NPP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former President <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/26\/employ-thinkers-to-keep-npp-in-power-for-five-terms-kufour-to-npp\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>John Agyekum Kufuor<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has admonished members of the New Patriotic Party to avoid criticizing the party in public.<\/p>\n<p>He said such development have the tendency of \u201cdestabilizing\u201d the party.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the party\u2019s 25th Annual Delegates\u2019 Conference in Cape Coast, Kufuor said persons who feel aggrieved or have problems with developments within the party should use the existing internal party structured to air them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to entreat each and every one of us not to, and let me repeat, not to say or do anything or conduct ourselves in any way that will destabilize the party\u2026If you have any criticisms, please render the criticism indoors. You don\u2019t wash dirty linen in public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP in 2015 suffered serious internal wrangling that saw some of its top officers going public with challenges of the party.<\/p>\n<p>The development resulted in two of the party\u2019s executives, <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/12\/22\/kwabena-agyepong-rejects-reasons-for-his-suspension\/\"><strong>Kwabena Agyapong<\/strong><\/a><\/span> who was the General Secretary and Paul Afoko, Chairman, being indefinitely <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/12\/11\/npps-11-reasons-for-suspending-agyepong-crabbe\/\"><strong>suspended<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>It resulted in a division in the party but their quick regrouping months ahead of the 2016 polls saw them claim victory ahead of a seemingly more united National Democratic Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, former President Kufuor has also called on the party leaders to hire strategists and thinkers who will serve as backroom staff to enable the party remains in power for more years.<\/p>\n<p>He said the strategists must be adequately remunerated to develop a comprehensive roadmap for the party to determine its short, medium and long term strategies for the sustenance of its future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has taken quite a long time for us to come into government. And now that we have it and there is so much to do, unfortunately, the term of office is so short, we must keep on winning perhaps three, four, five times, before the roots will go deep and we become the party of the nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>For this to be possible, Kufuor said \u201cwe must have full-time back room very professional thinkers and workers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe back room people don\u2019t tend to be too good on platforms, that\u2019s the profession of politicians like us but invariably behind us, we\u2019ve got the backroom people working for us. It\u2019s the same in government. So the party headquarters must be equipped with such full timers. They must be paid well and their role is just to sit and think and strategize for us. They will be strengthening the party\u2019s future.
