The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday completed the vetting process of all seven aspirants vying for the flagbearership position of the party.<\/span><\/p>\n

The two-day process saw all seven aspirants appear before the committee to answr various questions.<\/p>\n

The aspirants include the 2012 flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong, Francis Addai Nimo and a former MP for Offinso, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku.<\/p>\n

The rest are former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, MP for Essikado-Ketan, Joe Ghartey, as well as Asuogyaman MP, Osei Ameyaw.<\/p>\n

The Vetting Committee was chaired by party stalwart and former Member of the Council of State, Ama Busia.<\/p>\n

Other members of the Committee include Professor Michael Oquaye who is Chairman of the party\u2019s Constitutional and Legal Affairs, former Chief of Staff and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Kwadwo Mpianin is also a member by virtue of his position as Chairman of the Finance Committee.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the impending national congress of the NPP to elect a new flagbearer has been thrown into a state of uncertainty following a suit filed by a former constituency chairman in the Volta region, David Hoezame to restrain the party organizing the congress.<\/p>\n

Mr. Hoezame filed a suit against the party and its chairman seeking three reliefs, including a restraining order to stop the party from going ahead with the vetting of the seven aspirants seeking to lead the party in 2016.<\/p>\n

This is the second time he has dragged the party to court.<\/p>\n
