{"id":347588,"date":"2017-08-24T11:07:56","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T11:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=347588"},"modified":"2017-11-10T14:48:53","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T14:48:53","slug":"my-wo-music-video-not-banned-olamide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/my-wo-music-video-not-banned-olamide\/","title":{"rendered":"My \u2018Wo\u2019 music video not banned \u2013 Olamide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A music video by renowned Nigerian artist Olamide caught the eye of the Federal Ministry of Health for allegedly violating the Tobacco Control Act.<\/p>\n<p>It is a song that will make you move your feet but it has caused some controversy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning Olamide wanted to show the lifestyle in the area he grew up, in the video for his hit song Wo.<\/p>\n<p>The video, which has close to one million views on YouTube, has a scene showing young people smoking.<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s Ministry of Health tweeted that this violated the country\u2019s Tobacco Control Act, and reports alleged that the song was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission.<\/p>\n<p>But a spokesperson for the commission has confirmed to the BBC that there was never a ban on the music video.<\/p>\n<p>And Olamide retweeted a tweet to this effect:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-347595\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Olamide.jpg\" alt=\"olamide\" width=\"548\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Olamide has edited his video with a tobacco health warning and an age restriction on television.<\/p>\n<p>He tweeted:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-347594\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Olamide-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"olamide-1\" width=\"536\" height=\"502\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A music video by renowned Nigerian artist Olamide caught the eye of the Federal Ministry of Health for allegedly violating the Tobacco Control Act.
