The African Nations Championship (CHAN) holders, the Democratic Republic of Congo, failed to qualify for the 2018 finals in Kenya following a shock elimination by Congo Brazzaville.<\/p>\n
DR Congo could only draw 1-1 with their rivals in Kinshasa, having drawn the first leg of their qualifier 0-0.<\/p>\n
It put Congo Brazzaville through on the away-goals ruling.<\/p>\n
Also on Saturday, Zambia knocked out South Africa with a 2-0 win in Ndola to progress 4-2 on aggregate.<\/p>\n
In other results on Saturday,\u00a0Uganda<\/b>\u00a0progressed 3-2 overall despite a 2-0 defeat in\u00a0Rwanda,<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Nigeria<\/b>\u00a0overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit against\u00a0Benin<\/b>\u00a0to qualify 2-1 overall thanks to a 2-0 win at home in their second leg.<\/p>\n
On Friday,\u00a0Morocco and Libya knocked out Egypt and Algeria\u00a0respectively as they booked their places at Kenya 2018.<\/p>\n
Morocco<\/b>\u00a0beat\u00a0Egypt<\/b>\u00a03-1 in Rabat on Friday to win the tie 4-2 overall.<\/p>\n
Libya<\/b>\u00a0held\u00a0Algeria<\/b>\u00a0to a 1-1 draw in Sfax to go through to the finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory.<\/p>\n
In Sunday’s qualifiers,\u00a0Namibia<\/b>\u00a0host\u00a0Comoros<\/b>\u00a0looking to come back from a shock 2-1 defeat away from home.<\/p>\n
Also, twice runners-up\u00a0Ghana<\/b>\u00a0will aim to reach the finals for the fourth time in five attempts by overcoming\u00a0Burkina Faso<\/b>\u00a0in Kumasi.<\/p>\n
Ghana led twice in the first leg only for Iliase Sawadogo to snatch a 2-2 draw five minutes from time.<\/p>\n
Despite CHAN matches only featuring locally-based footballers the games have full international status and count toward the monthly Fifa rankings.<\/p>\n
