The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana has moved its demonstration scheduled for July 27 to July 29, 2014.

The group announced a three-day strike beginning July 27, 2014 last week.

The Association is aggrieved by the Central Bank’s forex rules introduced to halt the decline of the cedi.

They contend that the rules are not business friendly.

Speaking to Citi News, the Executive Secretary of the Association, Samson Awingobit, stated that the demonstration will draw attention to their plight.

“We want to embark on a peaceful demonstration just to let the government of Ghana know that it has not been well for the importers in Ghana,” he said.

Mr. Awingobit reiterated that the new Bank of Ghana policies are negatively affecting their businesses.

“The cedi continues to drop down drastically. Some of the measures weren’t favorable at all, because of that, the importers can no longer import into the country”, he said.

He added that the demonstration would begin from the Tema roundabout and its environs on Tuesday..
