{"id":344668,"date":"2017-08-14T09:21:08","date_gmt":"2017-08-14T09:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=344668"},"modified":"2017-11-10T10:37:15","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T10:37:15","slug":"ut-capital-bank-staff-agitated-over-takeover-by-gcb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/ut-capital-bank-staff-agitated-over-takeover-by-gcb\/","title":{"rendered":"UT, Capital Bank staff agitated over takeover by GCB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Information available to\u00a0<strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>\u00a0indicates that staff of UT Bank and Capital Bank are agitated over the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/index.php\/2017\/08\/14\/ut-capital-bank-collapse-gcb-to-the-rescue\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>takeover<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0of the banks by GCB Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The staff who are reporting to work on Monday morning have been refused entry for the necessary processes to be completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi Business News\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0Anita Arthur reports from the Headquarters of UT Bank in Airport that the workers are seen standing in the courtyard with their briefcases and bags.<\/p>\n<p>She also reports of some security presence who have restricted access to the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not able to get close to speak to anyone\u2026 there are police men around making sure that it is only workers of the bank that are allowed close to the premises of the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a man supposed to be one of the managers of the bank trying to calm the workers down,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile from the Headquarters of Capital Bank at Spintex, Jessica Ayorkor Aryee reports that the offices have been closed up while customers are being required to communicate with GCB bank for any transactions.<\/p>\n<p>She however reports that there is a Board meeting underway.<\/p>\n<p>The environment according to her is generally serene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe staff members I spoke to informed me that they are closed to business for now but upon further inquiry, I was told there is a Board meeting currently going on\u2026there are only two police officers at the premises.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe staff also told me that all their branches are closed but they will be opened to the public at 1pm,\u201d she reported.<\/p>\n<p>But the banking hall is however expected to be opened at 1pm on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Pius Amihere Eduku\/citibusinessnews.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Information available to\u00a0Citi Business News\u00a0indicates that staff of UT Bank and Capital Bank are agitated over the\u00a0takeover\u00a0of the banks by GCB Bank.
