{"id":344200,"date":"2017-08-12T11:21:19","date_gmt":"2017-08-12T11:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=344200"},"modified":"2017-08-12T11:21:19","modified_gmt":"2017-08-12T11:21:19","slug":"doctors-urged-to-adopt-alternative-surgical-methods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/doctors-urged-to-adopt-alternative-surgical-methods\/","title":{"rendered":"Doctors urged to adopt alternative surgical methods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Doctors in Ghana have been advised to adopt an innovative alternative means of surgery known as minimally invasion therapy in treating their patients.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the Ghana Society of Interventional Radiology Dr. Benjamin Dabo Sakordie who made the call explains that, minimally invasive therapy \u00a0has less complications and a short term recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Minimally \u2013 Invasion therapy is a pinhole surgery which does not require the traditional way of cutting parts of the human body during surgery.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr. Benjamin Sarkodie the treatment could be used in treating cancers, fibroids, leg ulcers, and heart attacks with many other related diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sarkodie made the remark at the Ghana Society of Intervention Radiology conference held in Accra last Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The conference reviewed the treatment methods for physicians, cardiologists \u00a0and other specialist from various hospitals in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said \u201cthe Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, University of Ghana Hospital (which will be operational soon) and other private hospitals will be providing the treatment while they make it available nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that the society has specialist doctors to help in that area adding that \u201cgovernment has also provided some of the machines to the Korle-Bu teaching hospital (KATH) which is currently providing this treatment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Gifty Tracy Aminu\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Doctors in Ghana have been advised to adopt an innovative alternative means of surgery known as minimally invasion therapy in treating their patients.
