<\/p>\nThe Ghana Tourism Authority has launched the \u2018Jollof Rice Festival,\u2019 a part of its activities to make people patronise made-in-Ghana products.<\/p>\n
The Jollof Rice Festival scheduled for 26th August, 2017 is being organised to promote Ghanaian cuisine, and is in connection with the \u201cSee Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana campaign initiated by the Ghana Tourism Authority.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the press launch at the Board Room of the Ghana Tourism Authority Head Office at Ridge in Accra, the Chief Executive Officer of the authority, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman outlined the activities lined up for the event.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cBasically we want to settle the age old controversy of who has the best \u2018jollof\u2019 rice in West Africa. We believe it is Ghana and we are going to hold one of the biggest food festivals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The festival will be held at the Legon Botanical Gardens and it is going to bring together chefs from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, the Gambia and several local caterers to see who has the best \u2018jollof.\u2019<\/p>\n
Mr. Agyeman also intimated that the festival will serve as a platform to as well showcase the other staple foods Ghana has.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though this is a \u2018jollof\u2019 competition, it will also help us showcase all the other food we have. Under the big umbrella it is a food festival but we want \u2018jollof\u2019 to feature prominently.<\/p>\n
He added that the authority will encourage corporate institutions, the media, among others to be part of the food competition.<\/p>\n

Aside that the Jollof Rice Festival, they will also tap into festival s that will be held in August.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to also leverage on some of the festivals that will be held in August. August is our eat Ghana month so Homowo is also ongoing. We will use that platform to project Ghanaian foods,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lastly, he hinted that the authority will be engaged in activities of the Chale Wote street festival.<\/p>\n
