{"id":342383,"date":"2017-08-05T16:15:06","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T16:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=342383"},"modified":"2017-08-05T16:15:06","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T16:15:06","slug":"bimbilla-flood-victims-receive-relief-items","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/bimbilla-flood-victims-receive-relief-items\/","title":{"rendered":"Bimbilla flood victims receive relief items"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has released a large consignment of relief items for distribution to flood victims in the Nanumba North (Bimbila) district of the Northern Region.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of residents within the eastern corridor enclave suffered from recent flooding which hit six districts in the region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-342395\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Nadmo-support-to-Bimbilla-8.jpg\" alt=\"nadmo-support-to-bimbilla-8\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NADMO\u2019s Director General, Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh on Friday, August 4 handed over the first consignment of relief items to the Nanumba North District Assembly authority for onward distribution to the victims.<\/p>\n<p>The items included mattresses, blankets, rubber buckets, drinking cups, cartons of cooking oil and packets of rice.<\/p>\n<p>He cautioned the assembly authority against diverting the relief items for personal gains.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-342389\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Nadmo-support-to-Bimbilla-2.jpg\" alt=\"nadmo-support-to-bimbilla-2\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Led by the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, the team visited some cut-off road networks within the area including portions of the much touted eastern corridor road.<\/p>\n<p>Salifu Saeed described the disaster as a human security threat and therefore advocated concerted efforts to support the victims.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that residents of about 36 communities along the Bimbila-Zabzugu feeder road have been cut-off from Bimbila Township.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-342392\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Nadmo-support-to-Bimbilla-5.jpg\" alt=\"nadmo-support-to-bimbilla-5\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He tasked Civil Engineers in the region to fast track their valuation of the damaged road network for government\u2019s swift action.<\/p>\n<p>He anticipated food insecurity in the region because large acres of farmlands were eroded.<\/p>\n<p>Salifu Saeed nonetheless said the region was bestowed with investment opportunities and thus invited multinationals to invest there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-342391\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Nadmo-support-to-Bimbilla-4.jpg\" alt=\"nadmo-support-to-bimbilla-4\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NADMO is continuing with the distribution of relief items in almost all the affected communities.<\/p>\n<p>Some flood victims in the Sagnarigu district and Tamale Metropolitan Area were the first beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has released a large consignment of relief items for distribution to flood victims in the Nanumba North (Bimbila) district of the Northern Region.
