{"id":341331,"date":"2017-08-02T11:46:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-02T11:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=341331"},"modified":"2017-08-02T11:46:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-02T11:46:00","slug":"marwako-supervisor-jailed-nine-months-for-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/08\/marwako-supervisor-jailed-nine-months-for-assault\/","title":{"rendered":"Marwako supervisor jailed nine months for assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Abeka District Court has sentenced the Lebanese supervisor at the Abelemkpe branch of Marwako restaurant,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/03\/lebanese-arrested-for-shoving-ghanaian-employees-face-in-pepper\/\"><strong>Jihad Chaaban<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to nine months imprisonment for <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/03\/07\/i-want-justice-to-prevail-marwako-assault-victim\/\"><strong>assaulting an employee<\/strong><\/a><\/span> Evelyn Boakye.<\/p>\n<p>The Judge, Victoria Eggs Ghansah in her judgment said the prosecution had proven beyond every reasonable doubt that the accused committed the offence.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-341348 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/marwako-supervisor-2.jpg\" alt=\"marwako-supervisor-2\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She further condemned the act cautioning employers to be careful on how they treat their employees.<\/p>\n<p>The court further rejected the terms of <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/07\/26\/marwako-victim-agrees-to-out-of-court-settlement-jihad-chaaban\/\"><strong>settlement<\/strong><\/a><\/span> by the two parties presented by the defense stating the matter before was criminal and not a civil one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-341345 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/marwako-supervisor-3.jpg\" alt=\"marwako-supervisor-3\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In February 2017, Citi News reported that Jihad Chaaban had assaulted Evelyn Boakye by grabbing neck and forced her face into a jar of blended pepper.
