An innovator and lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, Dr. Mark Amoo Boateng is seeking a $300,000 to enable him develop a programme to monitor the country\u2019s ocean systems.<\/p>\n

Dr. Boateng, a civil engineer, has a number of innovations to his credit including an electronic turbine for generating electricity.<\/p>\n

He is currently the only African semi-finalist in the ongoing 7 million dollar Shell Ocean Discovery XPrize which could fetch him US$ 4 million if he emerges the overall winner.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong> on Friday, Dr. Boateng highlighted some of his innovations including developing world\u2019s fastest optimization algorithm, as well as a UV [ultraviolet] light technology that heal wounds.<\/p>\n

Dr. Boateng, a civil engineer, has also developed a system to turn starch into plastics.<\/p>\n
