{"id":336085,"date":"2017-07-13T07:12:13","date_gmt":"2017-07-13T07:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=336085"},"modified":"2017-07-13T07:12:13","modified_gmt":"2017-07-13T07:12:13","slug":"ziope-shs-students-sleep-in-laboratories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/07\/ziope-shs-students-sleep-in-laboratories\/","title":{"rendered":"Ziope SHS students sleep in laboratories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN\">Students of Ziope Secondary School in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region are compelled to sleep in the school\u2019s laboratory and parts of the classroom blocks which authorities have turned into dormitories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Although the school is yet to fully operate a boarding system, the arrangement according to school authorities is to improve academic performance and accommodate students, who stay very far and walk several kilometers to school daily.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Two separate blocks have been converted to accommodate the male and female students separately.\u00a0<strong>Citi News<\/strong> visit to the school saw students pack their beds and cases into the facilities meant for practical lessons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The Assistant Headmaster Mr Victor Abotsi said to make up for the situation students offering vocational and art programs are compelled to hold practical lessons in the limited classrooms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Citi News gathered government under the previous administration awarded a contract for construction of male and female dormitories for the school. However, the project is yet to take off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The school, a community initiated project which was later absorbed into government\u2019s Community Day School Project is at the outskirt of town.
