{"id":335038,"date":"2017-07-10T09:27:42","date_gmt":"2017-07-10T09:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=335038"},"modified":"2017-07-10T09:27:42","modified_gmt":"2017-07-10T09:27:42","slug":"adaklu-chief-supports-hunchback-jhs-graduate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/07\/adaklu-chief-supports-hunchback-jhs-graduate\/","title":{"rendered":"Adaklu chief supports &#8216;hunchback&#8217; JHS graduate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN\">Chief of Adaklu -Waya, Togbega Lablulu has pledged to support the treatment of the Junior High School graduate with a\u00a0hunchback at Adaklu in the Volta Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Bernice Ekpeh,\u00a0developed the <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/09\/philanthropist-pledges-support-for-hunchback-jhs-graduate\/\"><strong>hunchback<\/strong> <\/a>at age 6\u00a0and had since been suffering pains in her spine. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;jKdT2zpJuRMMN9jFxmhs76A9QQ5RB25h&#8221;]Although the condition has delayed the education, the 20-year-old pupil&#8217;s zeal to become a Nurse in future has helped her not\u00a0to give up as she partook in this year&#8217;s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">She has as a result of her condition endured pains; lying prostrate in class for studies and examinations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><strong>Citi News&#8217;<\/strong>\u00a0attention was drawn to Bernice during the BECE when she was seen writing her papers on a bench in the prostrate posture. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">According to the headmaster of Adaklu Anfoe D\/A JHS, <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/06\/bece-candidate-with-hunchback-lies-on-mattress-to-write-exams\/\"><strong>Bernice<\/strong><\/a> is a brilliant child and was the only girl among the boys to have qualified to write this year\u2019s BECE in the school despite her condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Following <strong>Citi News<\/strong>&#8216; report on the young lady\u2019s condition, a philanthropist at FOCOS Orthopedic hospital volunteered to foot the bill for Bernice\u2019s diagnosis and other preliminary tests at a cost of about GHC2500.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Togbe Lablulu through his Educational Trust Fund also supported Bernice with a cash of GHC 500 and has pledged to support the child through his widow\u2019s mite towards the treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">A final bill of almost GHC 94000 has been prepared by FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital in Accra for her treatment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">Bernice whose fate now hangs in a balance has expressed fears of not being able to continue her education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cIf we are not able to get this amount, it means I cannot go to secondary school. Because I cannot continue lying on benches in secondary school and also be feeling these pains.
