{"id":334909,"date":"2017-07-09T08:34:15","date_gmt":"2017-07-09T08:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=334909"},"modified":"2017-07-09T08:34:15","modified_gmt":"2017-07-09T08:34:15","slug":"travel-and-tour-agent-remanded-for-swindling-radio-presenter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/07\/travel-and-tour-agent-remanded-for-swindling-radio-presenter\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel and tour agent remanded for swindling radio presenter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A travel and tour agent has run into trouble with the law for allegedly swindling a radio presenter of his cash of GH\u00a27,500.00 under the pretext of assisting him to travel abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Najib Jibril, alias \u201cShehu\u201d was on Friday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court to answer a charge of defrauding by false pretence.<\/p>\n<p>He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to make his next appearance on July 13.<\/p>\n<p>Police Chief Inspector Hannah Acheampong told the court presided over by Mrs. Mary Nsenkyire that the complainant Awal Mohammed works with a Kumasi-based radio station Boss FM.<\/p>\n<p>Jabril has been operating as a travel and tour agent at Kenyase-Duase, a suburb of Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed expressed his interest in travelling to Croatia to the accused in May 2016, and he promised to assist secure a student visa for him to travel to that country.<\/p>\n<p>They agreed on a fee of GH\u00a27,500.00 and this was paid to him. He also collected the passport and educational certificates of the victim.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution added that aside the agreed fee, Jibril took additional cash of GH\u00a2200.00 to \u201cspeed up\u201d the process.<\/p>\n<p>Jibril after collecting the money, passport and certificates, went into hiding and a formal report was made to the police.<\/p>\n<p>He was tracked down and arrested from his hideout.<\/p>\n<p>He admitted the offence in his caution statement and had already refunded GH\u00a22,700.00.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Source: GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A travel and tour agent has run into trouble with the law for allegedly swindling a radio presenter of his cash of GH\u00a27,500.00 under the pretext of assisting him to travel abroad.
