{"id":333113,"date":"2017-06-30T20:03:04","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T20:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=333113"},"modified":"2017-06-30T20:03:04","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T20:03:04","slug":"new-diesel-sulphur-content-rules-to-take-off-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2017\/06\/new-diesel-sulphur-content-rules-to-take-off-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"New diesel sulphur content rules to take off tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Effective Saturday, July 1 2017, all imported diesel into Ghana should have a minimum sulphur content of not more than 50 million parts per million, barring any last minute changes.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the implementation of the new regulation by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).<\/p>\n<p>A study by the African Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) and the Swiss NGO, Public Eye in 2016 revealed that Ghanaian consumers were at a high risk of fuel contamination as the diesel products in use contained excess sulphur content than specified internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The NPA subsequently reviewed its sulphur specification content to 3000 to 500 and eventually to 50 million parts per million to start in July this year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has a three-year grace period to reconfigure its equipment to attain the 50 million parts per million mark set in the draft national standard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Pius Amihere Eduku\/citibusinessnews.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Effective Saturday, July 1 2017, all imported diesel into Ghana should have a minimum sulphur content of not more than 50 million parts per million, barring any last minute changes.
