An Assin Foso District Court, presided over by His Lordship Samuel Ntim Jnr, has remanded in police custody the Chief of Assin Dansame, and thirteen other accomplices for exhuming a corpse that was publicly displayed.<\/p>\n
On Monday, June 26, the Chief, Nana Twum Barimah V, was alleged to have ordered some youth in the town to exhume the corpse of the\u00a0deceased, Koo Emma, few hours after burial.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Chief was reported to have given the order on the grounds that the deceased did not take part in communal labour when he was alive.<\/p>\n
He and some thirteen youth from the community, suspected to have executed his order, were subsequently arrested, and they appeared in court today [Thursday].<\/p>\n
\nThey have been charged with conspiracy to exhume a corpse, exhuming a corpse and causing fear and insecurity by their action.<\/p>\n
All the fourteen suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Joe Louis of the Assin Foso police, asked the court to remand the suspects in police custody to help the police fine-tune their investigations.<\/p>\n
The Judge agreed with the prosecutor and remanded all the fourteen suspects in police custody to reappear on July 10, 2017.<\/p>\n
