Members of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union(ICU) are currently demonstrating in Tema.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0demonstration is to protest what the Union describes as worsening economic conditions in the country.<\/p>\n
The Union says the high cost of living and the depreciating cedi among others is gradually becoming insurmountable hence the decision to protest.<\/p>\n
The Tema Regional Officer of the ICU, Eleazer Nyawunu in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> said the present state of the economy is already leading to job cuts and industry collapse.<\/p>\n \u201cOur members are suffering, Ghanaians in general are lamenting but they are not able to come up\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHaving waited patiently from the beginning of the year, and especially the past weeks, it has become necessary for us to take this step to send a signal to government that all is not well…,\u201dMr. Nyawunu said.<\/p>\n Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, Mr. Nyawunu further noted that\u00a0government is constantly introducing unfavourable policies despite Ghana\u2019s poor economic conditions.<\/p>\n Meanwhile the Tema\u00a0 Regional Police\u00a0 Command has cautioned miscreants to avoid using the demonstration to perpetrate crime and undermine public safety.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Members of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union(ICU) are currently demonstrating in Tema.
